Lipstick Traces / Gino Washington: Out Of This World

The song previously posted (A Boring Life by the Slits) was issued on a bootleg commonly referred to as "Once upon a time in a living room" (heh). However, I first heard it on the soundtrack to the book Lipstick Traces by Greil Marcus. The soundtrack is pretty rare so I figured nobody had posted it. On the contrary - Dorfdisco braunsfeld posted it back in August and the link still works! Look elsewhere for a proper review. All I have to say is get the book.

Once upon a time in a living room

This is kind of of an experiment to see if and how long I can maintain a music blog. I've gotten so much from other blogs over the past few years and I figured it would be nice to give something back.

I figure this song would be appropriate to start with: The Slits - A Boring Life

"One Slit giggles; a second asks, "You ready?," another answers "Ready?" as if she never could be, then the fourth returns the giggle like Alice diving down the rabbit hole: "Ah, ah, OH NOOOOO--" It's the last sound you hear at the crest of a roller coaster..." - Greil Marcus, Lipstick Traces
